Having been a classical musician for many years, playing the melodies of
others, I began to hear the beckonings of my own song wanting to be sung. I
explored many avenues of self expression: drawing, painting, creative writing, and
improvisational comedy to name a few. Along the way I discovered a passion for
listening to the songs of others, and a gift for compassion, presence, and
optimism which led me to my work as a counselor. I now enjoy using my creativity
on behalf of healing, helping people to integrate all the aspects of who they
are.
I hold a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology with Emphasis in Depth
Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. I have also received extensive formal
training in a number of therapeutic modalities including psychodrama,
dreamwork, art therapy, music-centered psychotherapy, and energy awareness, and I draw on techniques from these modalities depending on each client's individual needs. I also have training and experience with end of life issues, and escaping domestic violence.
Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from the New
England Conservatory, and use my experience as a professional orchestra musician
and private teacher when working with both individuals and groups.
On the more entertaining side, I have been a member of the improvisational
troupe ComedySportz, and have performed on stage with musical groups as varied
as Pink Martini, KD Lang, James Taylor, and Mel Torme.
